Coalition Opposed to Additional Spending and Taxes, C.O.A.S.T. advocates to reduce the rate of increases in government taxes and spending in southwest Ohio.

Please cast your vote for ONLY ONE of the
COAST's 2006 Marie Antoinette "Let them Eat Cake" Award Winner

David Pepper
Mr. Pepper was raised in a life of luxury as son of former P&G Chairman and now Disney Corporation Chairman John Pepper. The family is estimated to be worth in excess of $100 million. Mr. Pepper is a classic "limousine liberal," fighting for higher taxes and spending for the masses so that their family's pet projects can receive government funding. For example, David Pepper supported a 1¢ sales tax for a boondoggle light rail system in Hamilton County that was rejected by the voters 70% to 30%. When on City Council, he opposed a full rollback of property tax rates to avoid an increase in collections. He bought new furniture for his City Hall office to buy what he termed "something more stylish." He has sought the expansion of Section 8 housing to more areas throughout the County. Pepper wants to make it easier for illegal immigrants to access County social services. David Pepper was rejected by Cincinnati voters for Mayor, and refused by his own party for State Senator. His race for County Commissioner is the third office he has sought this year.

Johnny Cranley
Johnny Cranley is a current liberal member of Cincinnati City Council. His most notable moment was as Law Committee Chairman when he refused to have a raucous crowd arrested when they took over City Council Chambers. The resulting melee is what is now known as the 2001 Riots. Cranley has a history of appeasing the rioters, including participating in an $18 million settlement of their claims. Cranley, like Pepper, allowed the waste of $200,000 in taxpayer dollars on the failed Empire Theater Project due to a lack of oversight by Council and the administration. Johnny Cranley was rejected once previously by First Congressional District voters for this seat.

Ted Strickland
Unlike the other two nominees, Ted Strickland makes no attempt to hide his left-wing liberal credentials. He voted for Bill Clinton's tax increase. He has a 95% voting record with the liberal ADA. As candidate for Governor, as COAST sees it, a Strickland governorship appears to be a continuation of the failed policies of Governor Taft, a previous Marie Antoinette. "Let Them Eat Cake" awardee.
